Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Visit St Benedict's Monastery - Adisham to see how monks have preserved the style of an old English country house and exhibited its antiques. The Sylvestero Benedictine congregation owns the monastery, where a community of Benedictine monks still live and pray. However, the building was originally constructed by English aristocrat Sir Thomas Villiers, who spared no penny when designing it in the Tudor style. Emerald lawns, colorful orchids, and fruit plants surround the monastery, which has been preserved by the monks, who have even kept the furniture the library in good condition. Enjoy scenic views of the surrounding hills, giving the monastery a sense of tranquility.
