Categories: Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web
A hilltop lookout point, Lipton’s Seat offers views over five different provinces. When you reach the base of the hill, you can take a drive up to the top or brave the 7 km (4.3 mi) uphill hike--like Sir Thomas Lipton of Lipton Tea fame once did. Lipton’s Seat is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Haputale Edition.

  • We had a lot of trouble finding it on our own coming for Ella in scooter but once arrived, we n nothing regretted: a never-ending climb and what a sight at the top! the descent to Haputale is nice, we cross the village cores or live everyone in this mega-structure, everything is nickel: gardens, schools, houses, we saw people smiling, others seemed weary: life what

  • Lipton’s seat is a panoramic overlooking destination in Sri lanka. It is located on the top of the Poonagala hill near the dambetanna tea sate in Poonagala Sri Lanka. The place gets this name after the famous tea planter Sir Thomas Lipton used this place to survey the surrounding region of his tea plantations. From the Lipton’s view you can entertain and have a conspicuous view of the Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Eastern provinces including 7 districts. March and August are the best months to enjoy and visit at Lipton’s seat.
  • One of the best place in Sri Lanka And be careful while travelling to this place. The road was so small.
  • It is said that five provinces of Sri Lanka can be seen from here. But unfortunately, it was a foggy day that I went and could not see anything! I strongly recommend to check the weather before visiting. Even weather was OK, the weather quickly changes here. You may need some luck. Accessing here also is very difficult.
  • Amazing views of a beautiful region of Sri Lanka. Tea and short eats at the top!
  • Very beautiful scenery. Roads are very narrow and be prepared to stop ahead if you see a on coming vehicle
