Lipton’s Seat, Haputale
(4.7/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
A hilltop lookout point, Lipton’s Seat offers views over five different provinces. When you reach the base of the hill, you can take a drive up to the top or brave the 7 km (4.3 mi) uphill hike--like Sir Thomas Lipton of Lipton Tea fame once did. Lipton’s Seat is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Haputale Edition.

  • 50roupies/person to access the Seat lipton. From haputale ideal is to ride in a tuk tuk and down on foot across the fields of tea. The view is also beautiful. The fact descent in 1 h 30 up to Haputale. Many children on the road calling for money or sugar too bad because now they are more numerous (we went a holiday, fewer children school days). To do to discover the history of Thomas Lipton

  • there is a must see view from the top and a very nice way back. better take tuk tuk the way up and walk the way down (better with a map or an app).
  • We got Tuk Tuk to watch the sunrise and it was really amazing (it's cold above) for something put the Lipton there place. The views are really spectacular but then ride down does not diminish anything top. Route of descent are 7 kilometers between tea fields, hills that look perfect, like a tale drawn and occasionally a tamil village splashes of colours green of the you. Along the way, you begin to see school children down hastily villages, some will ask you to paints or pencils. And they also start to climb the tea peackers with their Sinhalese attire and his big bag on his back. Eye, take pictures, be careful are very uncomfortable when they see the camera, something that I see normal since they are not monkeys fair workers. Before you get there, you get to the factory and the village surrounding it. There you can take the bus back to Haputale or a Tuk Tuk. For us, it was the most authentic Sri Lankan and the most beautiful tea fields.

  • We took a TukTuk from Haputale up to the gate house and walked the rest (30-45 min steady climb) to Lipton's Seat. The views are really breathtaking and the walk through the tea plantations is also very nice. We walked back to Dambatenne factory and took the bus back to Haputale. Very nice trip, early start is recommended because of the clouds/heat.
  • Beautiful place in a tea estate and have hitorical value. Good view from top of the mountain. There is no any place buy food or place. For a shop you have to drive around 3-4 km.
  • This destination is really awesome for all local and foreign visitors to spend your time relaxing admiring nature. Give a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Really good for the photographs too. Access roads are very small. So be careful.
  • Highest place in this area.. most beautiful place.. you can see many areas around this place. Must go and visit
  • Awesome view of the city and the green tea plantation. Worth the walk. If you are lazy, you can go by tuk tuk all the way through. A must go!
