Lipton’s Seat, Haputale

(4.7/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
A hilltop lookout point, Lipton’s Seat offers views over five different provinces. When you reach the base of the hill, you can take a drive up to the top or brave the 7 km (4.3 mi) uphill hike--like Sir Thomas Lipton of Lipton Tea fame once did. Lipton’s Seat is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Haputale Edition.

  • One of the most beautiful places we visited in Sri Lanka. We set off early in the morning, when the best is according to local visibility. You can get fat up fat or you can go on foot. We voted for a tuk tuk in relation to other plans, but then felt sorry for us, not having been more space to go through. Road is an experience full of absolutely breathtaking views. At the top is very windy, but it is an unforgettable experience. There is a tiny little snacks, where we had three people in tea and roti with chilli for 320 rupees.

  • We made the climb by tuk - tuk and a part of the descent feet (our tuk - tuk waiting for us 5km further down). What to say? Landscapes breathtaking! I recommend this place magnificent and splendid! Get there before 10 o'clock in the morning because it is usually at this hour the mist rises. Went at 9: 00, we had the chance to have a magnificent panorama between a beautiful open view and clouds all around us, amazing!

  • Very recommendable TukTuk driver for Haputale and visits to waterfalls. He drove very carefully and Lanka waterfall even went with us through the jungle to the 3 km away. Very idyllic. Driver's name: Sharif Mobilnr.: 0726203142

  • We took a TukTuk from Haputale up to the gate house and walked the rest (30-45 min steady climb) to Lipton's Seat. The views are really breathtaking and the walk through the tea plantations is also very nice. We walked back to Dambatenne factory and took the bus back to Haputale. Very nice trip, early start is recommended because of the clouds/heat.
  • Beautiful place in a tea estate and have hitorical value. Good view from top of the mountain. There is no any place buy food or place. For a shop you have to drive around 3-4 km.
  • This destination is really awesome for all local and foreign visitors to spend your time relaxing admiring nature. Give a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Really good for the photographs too. Access roads are very small. So be careful.
  • Highest place in this area.. most beautiful place.. you can see many areas around this place. Must go and visit
  • Awesome view of the city and the green tea plantation. Worth the walk. If you are lazy, you can go by tuk tuk all the way through. A must go!
