Hurulu Eco Park, Habarana

4.0
#2 of 7 in Wildlife in North Central Province
Famous for sheltering elephants and evergreen forests, Hurulu Eco Park enjoys protection as a designated biosphere reserve. Go on a jeep safari to encounter the majestic mammals up close, as well as a variety of birds and other native species. As you progress into the wild, take photographs of the remarkable scenery and absorb the serenity of the tropical environment. Refrain from panicking should you get too close to elephants--noise can upset them and lead to unnecessary clashes. • Minneriya or Kaudulla is against the tall grass, so the elephants usually doesn't see the whole and sometimes at the last minute. They were also worried, once we had to quickly distance. In the high undergrowth is not much to see smaller animals.

  • Wide and very many large herds of elephants. Of the three large parks we visited this is the best to elephants. But compared to Yala and Wilpatu was this park a bit disappointing. A lot of jeeps with tourists.

  • We fell into the trap of our driver who advised us not to go to Minnerya because "this is not the time and elephants moving within" ... N ' gulo at Chris! CMQ touring 3 hours with careful driver to report any animal, machine, one on top of another when a sighting, very high grass. Cost tour + jeep in two €75 throughout. I couldn't find anywhere on line the real price of admission. Too bad we missed an opportunity. In any case we saw elephants, about twenty throughout the visit, peacocks, birds ... Go to Minnerya, except perhaps in the monsoon period, where this park is drier and Lake Minnerya is full as an egg.

  • You can watch natural habitat of elephants in this small park. No need to wait hours to see them. It will only take 2 hour to make a round on whole park. You can rent a 4WD from entrance of the park since the road conditions only suitable to 4WD off road vehicles within the park. Skilled drivers will take you on a adventures trip across the park. Definitely you will be able to see at least 10+ elephants There is a camping hut in middle of the park as well.
  • A Best natural place
  • long walking distance.....wear a comfortable shoes....
  • You can see only elephants and some kind of birds. On weekends really busy with hundreds of jeeps.which annoying to travel.
  • Beautiful and a lot of elephants!
