Glenloch Tea Factory, Sri Lanka

Categories: Farms, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.2/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web
See how locals produce one of the most widely consumed drinks at Glenloch Tea Factory. The factory had humble beginnings, but over time it has put Sri Lanka on the map as the fourth-largest producer of tea in the world. One of its founders was Sir Thomas Lipton, a name widely recognized on tea boxes, who purchased a tea estate and factory in the late 19th century. Enjoy the beautiful landscape and temperate climate, which offers excellent conditions for growing quality tea leaves. Take a 15-20 minute guided tour to learn how a leaf becomes a beverage; afterwards you can purchase boxes of tea as a souvenir or gift. • Not the best place in Sri Lanka. Very short excursion and they give tru only 1 sort of tea. With compare to Virgin Tea Factory, whre you can taste all sorts of tea, glenloch losing it all. But it reside in good way from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. I recommend to going to tea plantation by yourself, there is many good views, that compensate not best factory
  • Operational tea factory with guided tours where they let you touch and smell the tea as it is being processed. Take note that this tea, while branded "Glenloch", is actually packed for auction and rebranding into something else in colombo.
  • Very expensive compared to others. Not worth to stop the only reason we had to stop they give good commission to the driver.
  • Don't buy teas from the shop
  • Good experience
