Glenloch Tea Factory, Sri Lanka

(320+ reviews on the web)
Farm
See how locals produce one of the most widely consumed drinks at Glenloch Tea Factory. The factory had humble beginnings, but over time it has put Sri Lanka on the map as the fourth-largest producer of tea in the world. One of its founders was Sir Thomas Lipton, a name widely recognized on tea boxes, who purchased a tea estate and factory in the late 19th century. Enjoy the beautiful landscape and temperate climate, which offers excellent conditions for growing quality tea leaves. Take a 15-20 minute guided tour to learn how a leaf becomes a beverage; afterwards you can purchase boxes of tea as a souvenir or gift. • Good and friendly service. Better if have much more choice of tea. Manager is so friendly and helpful guy
  • Great place! Real tea factory. Not modern but old and native. Is it expensive here? Sure! But it's not easy to get great tea in your local store. For people who really understand what good tea should be.
  • The have one of the oldest factories and a nice tour that is about 10-15 min, then the shop where you can taste the tea and buy if you want, good tour for understanding, but the shop is expensive, only buy the silver / gold if you want, else buy from somewhere else.
  • Informative visit but it could have been significantly enhanced if a trip into the tea plantations was on offer, a good experience but not a full one.
  • Nice tea estate with great views and excellent tasting options.
