4.1/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web
A World Heritage Site, Sinharaja Forest Reserve protects Sri Lanka's last remaining undisturbed rainforest. Established as a biosphere reserve in 1978, the virgin forest is a haven of wildlife and vegetation, supporting numerous endemic species. Under the canopy of straight, high trees, observe how the birds tend to feed in mixed flocks, often with a greater racket-tailed drongo or orange-billed babbler at the helm. Embark on the verdant trails with a professional guide, who can help spot creatures and explain the array of unusual trees, birds, insects, and reptiles you might encounter. • Sinharaja forest is a very beautiful place, more so if you have a great guide. Our guide was Hemal and he showed us plenty of animals and insects. Lot of them endemic, which makes it even more interesting. We spent a full day there, which I definitely recommend. The day ended by swimming under a waterfall, perfect!
  • The biggest untouched rain forest Reservoir in Sri Lanka. Best time to travel is in between April - December. If you want to experience the Bio-diversity in Sri Lanka, this is the best place. Do not bring any garbage like polythene or plastic into the forest. If you are not okay with Leeches, bring something (lime, soap) to avoid Leech Attacks.
