  • Fantastic walk and stunning views. From Ella station, walk 50 mins along the tracks then cut in and go across the bridge. We ignored the locals telling us to go left before we reached Kital Ella stati...  more »
  • So it's amazing! Really the view is great it's a easy walk for anyone who is relatively fit and active. We walked up early in the morning at 6.30 before it got to hot and it still was becoming a littl...  more »
  • Okay so this walk is super easy and fun to do. But DO NOT TRUST THE LOCALS they want to tell you the wrong way so then you have to pay further along for someone to show you the right path. Stick to yo...  more »

  • I've been here twice and it's a lovely trek. It's not too hard but it isn't easy either. The view is nice. You can't really get a good view of sunset but sunrise is majestic. Camping isn't allowed anymore so make sure to not take tents up with you as some of the locals might make a fuss.
  • It takes quite a long time to get to the top, mostly because there are hardly any signs to direct you! You'd think that such a popular tourist attraction would have better signage or maps, but sadly not. You can however hire a guide. The hike is actually quite easy for anybody of average fitness, though it can of course get very hot. Be prepared to walk alongside railway tracks.
  • Great place to visit for a day hike. Up and down take about 3 hours. Heading out early in the morning will avoid heat & make sure to enjoy the breathtaking view of the rising sun by leaving early in the morning. And don't forget to check out the Buddha shrine located about 500m away from the rock top.
  • Ella Rock is a popular tourist location. It's a light yet varied hike, you'll wander on the train tracks and through forests and tea fields (although the hike to Lipton's Seat is more impressive regarding the latter). The view from the top is beautiful on sunny days and you can easily spend a relaxing hour there. The only difficulty is to find the way to the top (I guess there are many) because no signs lead the way. Unfortunately, there are many "guides" who wait at various places. They'll demand a ridiculously high price for showing you a way to the top. Don't fall into that trap but rather try to find your way with Google Maps etc. It's not that difficult and you can save your money for the really important things of life (e.g., a cold beer after your return...).
  • To hike there you should to find right map with trail. Because there are a lot of unmarked trails and you could lost. But views from the top are amazing.
