#Bridge, #Landmark, #Must See
A major crossing point along the nation's main rail artery, Demodara Nine Arch Bridge stands as a marvel of the region's colonial-era engineering. Completed in 1921, the bridge features nine successive arched spans stretching 91.5 m (300 ft) across a small valley. Standing at a height of 24 m (80 ft), the structure features no steel or metal in its construction--only bricks, cement, and rocks. You can make your way to the bridge from the nearby town of Ella via a jungle trail, at the end of which you'll have a clear view of this landmark structure. Alternatively, ride the train between the two stations on either side of the bridge for fine views and a chance to travel like the local population. • An iconic part of Ella. You can make a day visiting Little Adam's peak and then coming down here. You can alternatively just walk on the tracks until you reach it or get a tuk-tuk. The train schedule ...  more »
  • After a track through well trodden pathways, the view opens up to the splendid nine arch bridge. We were there in the evening and it was a very pleasant walk on the tracks. You can also climb up to hi...  more »
  • CA peak go down again to the 98 acres resort halfway by little Adams. What drink there like to ask with great views of the mountain and the environment (German prices), then the best reception below for directions. This goes to the tea factory over and then quite inconspicuous left down the mountain. This is not only a rough steep path. But it is on the Rails. Ca 5 minutes left running out. Super nice motive, not to run over. Across from tunnel, can you bring up what Nice locals on the Hill (about 30 meters) at nem to drink and has views of the bridge a 1a. Way back via Tuktuk is adventurous in evil ways. Better to run through the tunnel to Ella.

  • Definitely worth visiting and spending some time to see the architecture, all built without steel. A visit to this place and see a train cross the bridge is like you have gone back into the colonial times. Anyways, It's a very picturesque setting and requires a short hike through slippery slopes. The train arrives at about the hour, every hour during the day and it's worth waiting for it.
  • Nice walk between little Adams peak and Ella's railroad station. Be sure to be there when a train goes by. If you go walk further from Ella there is another smaller bridge with waterfall much more quieter. There's a track going to little Adam's peak on the opposite side of the tunnel. The walk to Ella's railroad station is calm and relaxing on the track if you like walking.
  • nice bridge. can walk onto it. even while train is passing by. nice viewpoints around. a bit hard to find the right way there. follow "nine arch bridge" and not "nine arch gap"
  • Amazing site to watch, you can hire a three wheel or go there by walk. If you walked you can burn some calories. There are about three routes to enter.Be there when the train is passing, theres a nice juice bar also. Police officers are there for your safety & information. You wont regret your visit.
  • It's marvelous engineering structure. It use only rock cubes without any cement or concrete. If see it when passing a train, gives you a remarkable memory.
