  • Visited this place for a business purpose but still it's a must see place to all the Sri Lankans and of course the tourists as well. The beach, the light house in the evenings and early in the morning...  more »
  • As of November 2016 in a lighthouse is not allowed for any money. Say 3 months ago someone came from the leaders when in the lighthouse were extraneous, since not allowed. But Tuk-tukerov touted at the bus station, this Council does not stop with a big smile-they offer for 600 rupees sezdit see the lighthouse. Lighthouse outwardly likable, but that would be to get there need a permit to Harbor keeper, who is based in Colombo. Entertainment at 5 minutes, but about the lighthouse at Bay bathes the local kids, they are happy to splash next to whites.

  • Is a wonderful place, unfortunately can the lighthouse no longer be seen. He is owned by the Navy, and in the course of the fight against of corruption has been closed to General access. Still worth a trip there, even from the bottom you can make beautiful images and in the Cove behind the Tower, you can meet the locals, who have their bathroom space. That's up three points...

  • Nice place to go for a picnic . evening sunsets are the most beautiful time to visit. You need to get the permission from the colombo to climb up to the lighthouse
  • This is considered as south most point of Sri Lanka. A wonderful creation of the nature. The beach is good for relaxing.
  • The lighthouse is no longer open for visitors according to a sign at the entrance. We asked locals and they confirmed. Apparently the old lighthouse keeper was taking payments to let tourists climb to the top against the government's wishes. Still a nice little beach to swim and view the lighthouse from a short distance.
  • Dondra Head Lighthouse is a lighthouse located on Dondra Head near the southernmost point in Sri Lanka and is the tallest lighthouse in Sri Lanka and also one of the tallest in South East Asia. Dondra Head lighthouse is operated and maintained by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. The lighthouse is near the village of Dondra, and is approximately 6 km (3.7 mi) southeast of Matara. The name Dondra is a synonym for "Devi-Nuwara" in the local Sinhala language, "Devi" meaning "Gods" and "Nuwara" meaning "City". Dondra is therefore derived to mean "City of the Gods".
  • Very beautiful place, It is considering as the southern edge of srilanka.when you are at the top of the Dondra Light house you can see the ships which are traveling on the silk way.
