Old Parliament Building, Colombo

Categories: Government Buildings, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.4/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web
Stop at Old Parliament Building and take in the neo-Baroque architecture on display. Constructed under British colonialism and opened in 1930, the building housed the island's' legislature until 1983. Unfortunately, the building does not offer tours of the interior, but you can walk around outside, inspect impressive bronze statues of eminent statesmen on the grounds, and take a relaxing break on the manicured green lawns. Bring a camera to capture the imposing structure. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Colombo holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Old Parliament Building and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The heritage structure gives a different look as it is surrounded by all skyscrapers and modern buildings
  • Beautiful building, very interesting architecture. Especially liked his neighborhood with modern buildings, clear thread "old-new". Not sure whether to go here specifically, but in any case, if you want to visit nearby attractions, maybe you will stumble and on this building. In the garden, in front of the statues, some figures, but who specifically is unknown, because it is impossible to approach them.

  • Very lovely building. Heavily guarded so we didn't take pictures. I don't think it is open to the public, we didn't go in.
