Mount Lavinia Beach, Colombo
(3.5/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
Watch the waves breaking directly on the shore of Mount Lavinia Beach, which hosts a strip of high-end restaurants and hotels. Rent a hut here and feast on some of fresh seafood while admiring the sunset or gazing at starry skies. The waters lapping the beach are not suitable for swimming all year round, but you can still wade up to your hips or enjoy building sand castles and playing sports on the seafront. If you take a boat tour, you might catch a sight of dolphins.
