Dunhinda Falls, Badulla

(4.6/5 based on 65+ reviews on the web)
Dunhinda Falls is a waterfall located about 5km from Badulla town in Sri Lanka. The Dunhinda Falls is one of Sri Lanka's most beautiful waterfalls. The waterfall, which is 64m high gets its name from the smoky dew drops spray, (Dun in sinhala means mist or smoke) which surrounds the area at the foot of the waterfall. The water fall is created by the river called Badulu Oya which goes through the Badulla town.To reach the water fall you have to walk more than along a foot path. Along this foot path you can see another small waterfall called Kuda Dunhinda at a distance. However walking along this muddy foot path is really worth as the waterfall is so beautiful. Along this foot path there are many native venders selling herbal drinks to refresh and rest yourself. At the end of the path there is a secure stage constructed for viewers to see the waterfall. If you are brave enough you can reach the foot of the waterfall and cross the river and see the most beautiful view of the fall.

  • We have seen many waterfalls over the years in Sri Lanka, and this one, situated on the Mahiyangana Road is well worth visiting. It is one of the longest falls on the island being some 64 metres high....  more »
  • If you have not seen big falls-boldly go here. Its height is 64 meters (which is not so very well, and a lot). Before him to walk 1.5 km from the road or 20-25 minutes of quick step. We walked in the rain, and except for us on this road there was no one at all! Were dogs and monkeys. Monkeys attacked us and selected package with bananas (there was only 1 banana and swimsuit)-be careful. Big, beautiful waterfall, noisy, it is worth to visit it. However if you've seen the waterfalls of greater height-you may not impress him.

  • A beautiful creation of the nature. One of the longest and beautiful waterfalls in Badulla. Access route from the main road is little rough. But you wont feel tired.
