Ruwanwelisaya Dagoba, Anuradhapura

Hailed for its architecture, the stupa of Ruwanwelisaya Dagoba has a sacred reputation among Buddhists around the world. Once you see its pure white dome towering overhead, it's easy to understand why. Although ancient, the stupa stands as one of the world's tallest monuments, and also holds the titles of one of the Solosmasthana and one of the Atamasthana (places of veneration). Keep in mind you have to remove your shoes to enter, so consider visiting in the morning for cooler weather; if you go in the afternoon, you have to tour the attraction barefoot on the hot stones, or carry a pair of socks with you. • We rented a tuktuk (for a few hours) to visit this site, speak first on a price. Visit this place in the morning because of the heat in the afternoon, there are also many more believers in the afternoon. The construction of this dagoba began in the years 200 BC, the wall with elephants decorations is quite stunning

  • Must visit this if you go to Anuradhapura. Calm place. During the day time it’s bit hot. At night it’s very good for worshiping. Very calm and good environment at night.
  • One of the most miraculous places on earth. Respected and worshipped by millions of Buddhists from all a over the world. Clean and nice place. Floor around the Great "Saya" is well made, and comfortable.
  • It's a place like no other.. The peace, calmful and relaxing nature, that you can experience, is free of charge. Its the one and only place in the world, where the most amount of Relics of the Buddha is enshrined..
  • Beautiful and peaceful environment around here..little bit hot during the day time.
  • It is a wonderful place to visit specially at the evening. In the dark environment, You can get a really fine view of this great Stupa. If you want to get relax your mind, I think you must visit to this place & take at least 1 hour of time by staying here alone. Even by seeing at this Stupa, you'll get a different comfort to your mind than the other places.
