  • Little to see all rather contrived .l felt sorry for the poor old chap who had to turn over a spade full of gravel as a tourist walked past. The gems are over priced and the staff pushy?  more »
  • We held a free tour, as mined stones. Informative and not binding. Prices are lower than in Ukraine, and is lower than in jewelry stores in Sri Lanka. In addition to finished products, you can purchase just the stone, which in a few hours will make the finished ornament.

  • The moonstone mine in Meetiyagoda. After a fun-filled tour you go to the store where they try to sell you some. So far nothing going on but after we had bought 2 stones with certificate we came there by chance neppers were behind that. We had the stones for a not insignificant amount purchased so that was a big Downer. Fortunately we were able to make because we would still work of another day in sri lanka. Also useful that a my net for Columbo where the airport is visited because once back in Netherlands there is little more to do! We have registered and the police have called the store, the owner would give the money back and so is it also happened. However, this case not punished and they can just go ahead with this corrupt practices!! Also at the tourist police registered but wonder if it all makes sense. But be warned!!
