Stopped here on a day trip. Good range of masks and products to buy. Quite expensive but at least the prices are on the products so you can see what they are. Museum is worth looking around for a coup...  more »

Destinations senior case for Sri Lanka trip for my wife. Sri Lanka are mostly Buddhists. However, since ancient times also from shamanism (a magical folk) more often than not believed. Born in candy & from guides in the "our Studio is hand-crafted from lumber to finishing all the way. Order production is undertaken. It is because their Quality is outstanding from all over Sri Lanka not pull rite and ritual mask (Kamen) request to cut. Traditional masks are popular with Westerners, so committed as products. Material is a specialty of balsa wood. Finishing the art is painted with lacquer painted (Bargain Edition) and natural dyes (luxury goods) / patina finish (craft) of three types. Equipped Museum exhibited the traditional style ' with received a lecture. First of all, is from the Studio Tour. Skilled craftsmen is responsible for the craft and Division of labor is manufactured by others. Balsa wood is lightweight and easy processing, so in Japan, flying models and tools for elementary school students is common. A long time ago, so all the disappeared from memory. Once again, was surprised by its lightness. Balsa wood was "cheap" image, but shamed the unknown. Order the Museum (Museum) tour. The hotel staff does commentary in English (UK). Commentary is based on academic content, and from ancient times to the present day organized being, so study hard now. Generally, is a 30-minute journey. Museum visit (even if they understand the words without Visual and) is a must. In the shop, a couple of Westerners and Japanese had a judgment. Westerners, and buy "big game", but the Japanese tourists "of Sri Lanka to the high! ' And went away and spit me out. "It is to eke out subsistence." And has had many talented craftsmen. It is major and minor, not let determine the in value of the works. * Workshops and museum tours are free.
