  • It turns out that this castle is open a few centuries access. We have enjoyed your visit on many occasions. Lately, and taking advantage of that they created a magnificent interpretation centre in nearby excavations of the city of Visigothic Reccopolis, lately, I say, have been closed to the public and you can only enter by means of step per box... Moreover, the Castle has not experienced any improvement. They have simply put some fences with locks in access. You can not go, upload and view it. The schedule is... which gives them the win. Sure that makes sense. I, personally, don't find it. A disaster.

  • This castle is located in the old village of Zorita of dogs. Along with the ruins of the castle of Calatrava la Vieja and Calatrava the new in the province of Ciudad Real, is the lasting memories of the military order of Calatrava. All of them are national monuments, East from 1931. It is a construction of the 12th and 13th century. Was occupied for many years by the order, although its history is quite above: Moorish and Christian was famous for being the residence of Alvar Fañez in his time as defender of the Spanish border, under the command of Alfonso VI. Retains a watchtower, and has a beautiful door consisting of double arch: pointed outside and inside of the Horseshoe. In the enclosure, guarded by tough cloths of wall, you can visit a beautiful chapel Romanesque, very well restored, with barrel vault and airy ceiling on capitals recovered from Visigothic Reccopolis neighboring city ruins. An impressive "the moro lounge" perfectly domed where probably met calatravos officials. In one of the walls of the chapel remains of tombs of Knights of the military order. The fortress is perched on a rock at the edge of the Tagus River, with magnificent views of the Valley, and its around were building the neighborhoods of people seeking the military shelter the occupants querreros of the fortress. It is a must for lovers of the military orders, and a must for visitors to the Visigothic Reccopolis town, just two kilometers away.
