  • Thirty years ago, these ruins were used by pastoralists to save their livestock. Today it is a spectacular archaeological site, if you like archaeology. The city, the Palace... have some excellent information panels. They have done a good job. Highly recommended.

  • There is who is considered the only city created and erected in Visigothic Hispania, others go with it with the origins of the current Vitoria... This great city of Reccopolis founded it and ordered the construction of the King Leovigildo in honor of his favorite youngest son, reccared I. Founded in the 6th century, year 578, is located on a hillock on the Tagus River in the vicinity of Zorita of dogs, on the road from Almoguera. It was a large urban center that served as a counterpoint to the Capital Toletum, in the province of Celtiberia. Is ordered to build similar to Constantinople, in his urban model, so it is equipped with major streets and avenues that lead to the great palace complex and the great Basilica, with three naves, which next to the building that linked her to the Palace, is the remains of the oldest Palace-basilica medieval Europe.; the Basilica is a magnificent Bill and that large, although the one and the other are found in excavation and recovery phase. With the decline of the Visigothic Kingdom, and the arrival of the Muslims to the Peninsula, the city declined in importance, it was occupied by the invaders and subsequently reconquered by the armies of Alfonso VI, established nearby the border of the Kingdom of León and Castile, defended by Alvar Fañez. It is a great archaeological Park, with a very careful interpretation centre and good information; walking through the city you can visit several formations of houses beside a large Avenue, which say a lot about the occupation of its inhabitants, also the remains of an ancient aqueduct that fed water to the city. Along with the castle of Zorita of dogs an obligatory visit.

  • The site is unknown, unique in its kind. Very much liked the location, archaeology, and the video of the interpretation centre. However, do not guide explaining what we liked.

  • Historic site that is worth knowing. We hired guided but as there was a minimum of people we had to go through it alone. They should care more for tourism.
