Monasterio de Piedra, Zaragoza

4.6
#2 of 95 in Things to do in Zaragoza
Church Tourist Spot
Discover picturesque landscapes at Monasterio de Piedra, a tranquil and scenic park that surrounds a partially ruined ancient monastery. Its deep, reflective lakes, caves, lush forest, and waterfalls, including one over 50 m (164 ft) high, make it an oasis in an otherwise arid area of Spain. Listen to birds singing and try to spot the native deer, rabbits, and boars. Head to the monastery, founded in 1194, and learn how the first piece of chocolate made in Europe was created there. Some of the paths in the park are tricky and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Monasterio de Piedra and many more Zaragoza attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Zaragoza family vacation planner.

Where to stay in Zaragoza

When visiting this historical city, most visitors opt to stay in the old quarter, or Casco Viejo, for its convenient proximity to many of the city's iconic landmarks and compact network of local eateries, shops, and traditional architecture. The old quarter is located along the Ebre River meaning that you are only a scenic waterfront stroll away from the rest of the city's buzzing neighborhoods. Several newer hotels are located in the commercial zone centered around Gran Via, one of the city's main arteries, where plenty of shops and well-known restaurants line the buzzing streets. Alternatively, head to the University district for a mix of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and a vibrant nightlife, where accommodation tends to be a bit cheaper.

  • Pretty and nice views but it could be better. There could be better services and it could be more carefully treated. The prices are expensive too.
  • Fantastic meal in a marvellous place. You feel like you were in xii century. Great experience
  • Absolutely stunning scenery! Take a beautiful walk around the 'parque natural' where there's a lot of beautiful waterfalls, birds of prey, and fair bit of wildlife to see.
