Monasterio de Piedra, Zaragoza

4.6
Discover picturesque landscapes at Monasterio de Piedra, a tranquil and scenic park that surrounds a partially ruined ancient monastery. Its deep, reflective lakes, caves, lush forest, and waterfalls, including one over 50 m (164 ft) high, make it an oasis in an otherwise arid area of Spain. Listen to birds singing and try to spot the native deer, rabbits, and boars. Head to the monastery, founded in 1194, and learn how the first piece of chocolate made in Europe was created there. Some of the paths in the park are tricky and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. • Spacious car parks free and shady thing to thank. There are many picnic areas to eat outside and inside the Park as well as a restaurant, the food prices not be but beer 1.65 which isn't bad. Within the gardens you are making the pictures that you can buy if you want to clear out is. In the birds also can enjoy much for children is very attractive. Waterfalls Caves and in general areas of water in my opinion is the best, the Iris cavern one last. It is worth seeing them. If tickets are purchased over the internet are cheap and there are pages that sign up make you a 15% discount. The monastery is in quite a bad state but with a guided whole you everything very well and does not last long. Recommended

  • Going with young children, we performed only the visit of the Park. Tickets (which include mandatory visit to the monastery which we didn't) them are bought online a few days earlier. It is a highly recommended visit, especially the first part (up to the waterfall Iris, position nr 16 of the drawing that appears on the website of the Park). The second part is rather unbalanced: begins with the spectacular descent through the Grotto Iris (only suitable for people with mobility to 100%, zero claustrophobia and fear of heights) to the foot of the Cola de Caballo, then do a fairly bland ride by the trout farm. We will repeat!

  • Beautiful place to visit on a sunny day. Nice natural park and interesting building. Worth it!
  • The park is astoundingly beautiful. Waterfalls around every corner. The monastery itself was also very beautiful and interesting.
  • Beautiful hike! The grounds around the Monastery are very peaceful and despite how many people were there it didn't feel crowded.
  • It is a wonderful place, with a lot of waterfalls, gardens and nice views. The monastery is beautiful and the local guide explains all it's history in a detailed way. We enjoyed a lot our visit.
  • Sus paisajes son increibles y con muchas posibilidades de disfrutar de un paseo y luego relajarse en el balneario.

Where to stay in Zaragoza

When visiting this historical city, most visitors opt to stay in the old quarter, or Casco Viejo, for its convenient proximity to many of the city's iconic landmarks and compact network of local eateries, shops, and traditional architecture. The old quarter is located along the Ebre River meaning that you are only a scenic waterfront stroll away from the rest of the city's buzzing neighborhoods. Several newer hotels are located in the commercial zone centered around Gran Via, one of the city's main arteries, where plenty of shops and well-known restaurants line the buzzing streets. Alternatively, head to the University district for a mix of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and a vibrant nightlife, where accommodation tends to be a bit cheaper.
