Calle Alfonso I, Zaragoza
(4.1/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
The main thoroughfare in the city's historic quarter, Calle Alfonso I is lined with boutiques and cafes. The street is best viewed from the Basilica del Pilar in Plaza del Pilar, a central plaza located at the end of the street. From the basilica you'll see a row of buildings all constructed in the same style. In the 19th century, the street was part of an urban development project, which regulated construction to ensure residents built their homes using the same aesthetic. • If you travel to Zaragoza, and visits the basilica del Pilar, my recommendation is that you access it through this street. Join the street of the Bullring with the square of the basilica. And the vanishing point which forms the pillar with the oblique of the cornices of buildings, together with the lanterns that adorn the street, are a very photogenic image. An image difficult to forget...

  • This historic street is located in the heart of Zaragoza and goes from the Coso to the very pillar plada. It is pedestrian, although it allows the transit of vehicles through the perpendicular streets crossing it, so you have to be careful. The street is full of shops of all kinds, from souvenirs to tourists shops, banks, administrations of lottery, bars and restaurants for all tastes and pockets.

  • At least on the dates when we visited it (early November), I guess that dates more tourist will be more congested. Nice to walk around and see shops. The Basisilica view from the street is shocking.

  • My partner cannot enter and buy something, that is very cheap, full of things that if you didn't know they existed you wouldn't, but that capture your attention of purchase from the moment you see them.
