Ascensor del Pilar, Zaragoza

4.3
#5 of 35 in Historic Sites in Zaragoza
Church Tourist Spot
Admire 360-degree views of Zaragoza and the Ebro River from Ascensor del Pilar. An elevator takes you to the base of the spire. Then you'll climb a short staircase to the top, where on a clear day, you can see all the way to the distant peaks of the Pyrenees. Look out over the bright green, yellow, and blue chevron tiles of the church roof and its many spires pointing towards the heavens. Below, watch the deep green Ebro flow past. It seems to me something expensive. Have to care more for the price they charge. Handles sticky, dirty glass...

Only you can access the Tower elevator because of its height. To get up at all there after climbing a few stairs. The view is beautiful, as it tends to be normal from this point. It is worth

Good experience from which, however, we expected more. The city view from the top is great even if the place is a bit claustrophobic and fills up with a few people. At a cost of 3 euro still remains one of the things to do in Zaragoza.

  • Best place to oversee the city
  • Excellent views to enjoy. That if the elevator only reaches half of the Tower then must climb a narrow spiral staircases.

Where to stay in Zaragoza

When visiting this historical city, most visitors opt to stay in the old quarter, or Casco Viejo, for its convenient proximity to many of the city's iconic landmarks and compact network of local eateries, shops, and traditional architecture. The old quarter is located along the Ebre River meaning that you are only a scenic waterfront stroll away from the rest of the city's buzzing neighborhoods. Several newer hotels are located in the commercial zone centered around Gran Via, one of the city's main arteries, where plenty of shops and well-known restaurants line the buzzing streets. Alternatively, head to the University district for a mix of eclectic shops, quaint cafes, and a vibrant nightlife, where accommodation tends to be a bit cheaper.
