  • After reading several opinions I launched to give my more sincere version. A monastery with beautiful views, no doubt. But especially a living monastery, full of spirituality. A place steeped in history, medieval kings Pantheon, where, especially its crypt makes us wreck in the most beautiful and original Romanesque art. The crypt, is a monumental site formed by semicircular arches, barrel vaults and columns that are enriched with various capitals, plunge into an architecture that, undoubtedly, was the most avant-garde construction of that time. For first time, displayed the art Romanesque in Navarre, art that is considered the first style art international. The original work shows a character experimental. Columns of different widths and heights. Capitals that adopt different sizes and shapes, and even come to remember the ancient classical architectural orders born in the old Greece. Scrolls that are twisted in the purest sobriety, own a Romanesque initial. Small columns that seem to emerge from the depths, depths which have been, nothing more and nothing less, than the base of a construction that has taken place, century after century, depths that were born the roots of an Abbey Church in which the Gregorian chants did look, even more, the espirualidad and intimacy that can enjoy this type of construction. Monks black venerating their valuable relics in the middle ages, the white monks using this crypt to store mode, pilgrims and pastors seeking shelter under the great medieval vaults. Thousands and thousands of people have seen the purest medieval architecture, which has more than a thousand years of life. Who would say that Sancho III the Mayor would be the driving force behind a work in which there are still many stories to tell!. If you love art, if you love Romanesque art and if you love architecture, you can not miss it.

  • No guided visit pages unless you have. Pay by enter to the Church that if there are mass is access free and by enter to the basements that are empty, or tombs or nothing. Go that coincides with my, you do some photos and you purchases a gift and ready.
