Catedral de Santa Maria, Vitoria-Gasteiz

Must see · Religious Site · Church
Set on one of the highest points in the city, Catedral de Santa Maria is an impressive Gothic-style cathedral filled with artwork and sculptures. The portico is especially popular, with its three parts dedicated to the Virgin, San Gil, and the Final Judgment and Saint James. • Gorgeous and oddly touching. I don’t know if the tone is the same for every audio-guide, the one in French certainly was. A must-see for art history lovers and normal people too x)
  • Nice cathedral placed in a very beautiful square. Very recommendable to do a walk around the cathedral and the nearbies. We love Vitoria.
  • The work done of restoration of this Cathedral is amazing. It seems that construction was not very well done, and during the time the attempts to repair it were not very successfully also. From a few year now, was done a huge work to understand was was wrong and what exactly had to be done to save the building.
  • A lovely ancient cathedral at an elevated position overlooking the main square with great views.
  • There are currently different tours starting from 5 Euro which takes you through different parts of this currently being restored church. Note that you need to join a guided tour and there are audio guides I'm multiple languages
