Would have liked to go, but we were a Thursday morning and was closed. Anyway we loved the site where it is and we could see how much having the exterior of the Basilica. Parts reused in the portal and above all a series of Super Corbels under the cornice of facade, where you can entertain yourself, after having given the return to the building. We hope to see inside.

The basilica of Armentia is dedicated to a Saint of Visigothic period (6th century), natural of this place and who became Bishop of Tarazona. The Christian tradition links it to this first episcopal see Alava and is currently the patron of the lands of Alava, whose feast is celebrated on 28 April, the fields surrounding the Temple of Armentia place that brings on this date a large number of inhabitants of the city and Alava in festive pilgrimage. Shortly before reaching the basilica, on a small hill, is located a modern image of the Saint. The current church can be traced back to the medieval centuries, however the oldest that we still standing is its Romanesque traces of the 12th century, visible only in the apse of the Church, its windows and Corbels, as well as some de labras in stone that were rescued from their primitive home. The rest was remodeled in the last third of the 18th century. The spot is bucolic and quiet throughout the year. Surrounded by a wide green field and a grove that follows the stream a little stream, we can enjoy shade when it raging Sun and a source close to fresh water. In short, a picturesque place offering art, tradition and rest to the visitor, as well as an interesting gastronomic offer in your environment.
