  • We have done the guided visit the castle which has been very pleasant and interesting. In addition, there are excellent views.

  • Those days you want to spend with your family and decide to go to see something new... as a castle. So we left early from Torrevieja towards Villena and in a little more than one hour we were there. Say that in addition the day though was fresh accompanied completely with a Sun splendid. We arrive at the reception centre the visitor to know that times had to visit the Castle and the girl (super nice) told us that in an hour we could get to see him but before we decided to go to see the archaeological museum so at the end we went to see the Castle at 12 in the morning. It must be said that the castle was a military fortress so don't expect tapestry or carpet or anything spectacular (in this sense) because it is in many others. Its history, in principle nestled in it high of the mountain and then moved to the inside of the village for a better defense of this is very interesting. The guide that we accompanied a delight of girl that did that to my son you love it visit... and adults also. Say that the Castle has almost a 100 internal steps with a considerable height between each of them making the up and back down a tad difficult for those who suffer from knees like me... the entrance to the castle is €3, but there are several discounts... for students, unemployed persons, persons under 18 years... all of them pay 1.50. Parking is not very complicated... can go up to the Castle gate or parking at the door of the reception centre but there is not much room. The views once you arrive at the towers of the Castle deserve the penalty and the effort of the almost 100 steps.

  • Each year in mid-March is there on and around the beautiful Castillo de la Atalaya in Villena the medieval festivals Mercado Medieval. It is one of the most enjoyable medieval festivals that we have experienced. Everything and everyone joins in, on and around the Castle and also in the village. Also culinary really worth it. Particular is the wedding at the Castle, in medieval style.
