Ruta de las Xanas Reviews
Es una de las rutas de montaña más bonitas de Asturias. El camino atraviesa un desfiladero, en el que se encuentra un río. "Xana", es el nombre de un ser mitológico de la cultura asturiana. Un hada de... more »It is one of the most beautiful mountain routes of Asturias. The road crosses a Gorge, where a river is located. "Xana", is the name of a mythical being of Asturian culture. A fairy of the rivers, which always dwells in them. The route is steep and sections must be a little careful. It is not suitable for all ages, since it is an old road and is narrow. After crossing the Gorge there is a stretch of forest and then a large meadow, where the Church of Pedroveya is located. Pedroveya is a charming village with few houses, and has a restaurant called "Generous House" that is excellent and the best homemade food in the world. It is not always easy to find a place there. So if you are going to do the route and then you want to eat there, called before to book.

To begin, there is a parking just at the beginning of the route. Although it can be circular, I do not recommend the second part because besides not being pretty, it is signposted on a regular basis, so the best is to return. The first 2 km are approximately down the cliff. It is not very hard, but at the beginning gets something. Although there are rope part of the route, I sincerely disagree with the earlier opinions that say that it is suitable for the whole family. We were going with a 3-year-old boy and it is dangerous. If you don't plan a meal at Pedroveya (end of journey), you can bring snacks and take them into the river that runs parallel to the final part of the route (1 km). If not, you can do the last kilometer with enough slope, which crosses some meadows, passes through the Hermitage reaches Pedroveya, where you can eat very well in La Generosa. In total 4 kms of ida and many others back. If it's sunny, take water and protection because except the part of the River, is very open and there is no shade. The views from the cliffs are worth so even though you have not much time you can do the first two kilometers and return, which will cost you an hour more or less. Recommended 100% except if you go with children under 5 years old walk
Si te gusta la naturaleza esta ruta es ideal para ti. No es demasiado dura, eso si como haga buen tiempo lleva agua fresquita, y tiene unas vistas espectaculares. It is essential to go down to the river and see their small cascaditas, for my was the best! Once finished travel if you walk a little more becomes a small village with a source where you can refill the bottles.
Good landscape. Very good views. Peaceful setting.
Beautiful route, forest and part Gorge. One way, is 4 km (round-trip about 8 km). I recommend, if you can, leave a car on each side if you go with children to do two times part of the Gorge.
For those who likes hiking is a path I recommend, it has a great variety of landscapes, that Yes, make her whole are almost 9 km.
Route through the Gorge. Impressive.
A very good route, with incredible views
