  • We love hiking and we wanted to have a first contact with the astronomical world, please perform the "Astronomical hiking" experience. All the arrangements were by email and very easy. They also send you recommendations on footwear and clothing to take into account. It cited us in the parking lot of the restaurant Summit, near the Roque Nublo. Fran, our guide, is a person who moves you his passion for astronomy and one aspect that we loved is that it was not lost on technicalities and always used very clear and concise explanations being always open to questions and doubts (as I said we didn't know nothing of) astronomy). The route is very sencillito and easy for anyone (the purpose of the experience is not the route, but enjoy the sky). The first stop is spectacular because it allowed us to watch the sunset from a "viewpoint" in which you could see perfectly Roque Nublo and in the distance the Teide, while we waited to "come out" the first stars. A marvel! Thanks really Fran for allowing us to enjoy this. Days later, returned there on our own to enjoy the views again. The second stop we made it in a small clear about this "vantage point" where the main explanations were developed and could already see at night many of the constellations, stars and planets. The experience ends up in the same parking lot observing the sky with the telescope and being able to verify many of the explanations of Fran. It is important to note that Fran never hurry to finish and always offered us repeat and see the stars and planets as often as we would like. In total we were about three hours and were delighted. He also offered us to follow him by car to exit to the GC-1 and return to our hotel. We did the route in Castilian, but Fran told us that they can also do it in English. It seemed very professional in all aspects. Without a doubt, I recommend the experience. We love hiking and as we wanted to have a first contact with the astronomical world, we asked for the experience of "AstroHiking". All the procedures were by e-mail and very easy. They also send you recommendations about footwear and clothing to keep in mind. They made the appointment in the car park of the La Cumbre restaurant, close to Roque Nublo. Fran, our guide, is a person who transmit his passion for astronomy and one aspect that we loved the was I used clear language without technical terms, being always open to some questions and doubts (as I said before we did not know anything about astronomy). The route is very simple and easy for anyone (the purpose of the experience is not the route, but to enjoy the sky). The first stop was spectacular because it allowed us to see the sunset from a "viewpoint" where we could appreciate perfectly the Roque Nublo and in the distance the Teide, while we expected for the first stars. Thank you so much, Fran, for allowing us to enjoy this. Several days after, we returned there on our own to enjoy the views again. The second stop was in a small field where Fran explained the main points and we could contemplate some constellations, stars and planets. The experience ends in the same car park, observing the sky with the telescope and verifying many of the Fran's explanations. It is important to say that Fran was never in a hurry to finish and always offered to see the stars and planets as many times as we wanted. We spent about 3 hours. On the other hand Fran was also our guide to get the GC-1 road to go back our hotel. We enjoyed the experience in Spanish but Fran told us that he can't explain everything in English too. We found him very professional in every way. I would definitely recommend the experience.

  • Astronomy lecture. A plan different, interesting, educational and fun. The astronomer who explained to us what we saw through the telescopes, Fran, is a great Communicator; He knows very well the stars and explains in spontaneous and fun way. Highly recommended, the only thing to keep in mind is that it's cold. Essential warm clothes and ready to enjoy a fantastic plan
