  • The monastery of San Miguel de los Reyes, (Sant Miquel des Reis), one could say that it is or should be, (a monument is little known by tourists), one of the main tourist attractions of the city of Valencia, despite being away from the historic centre of the city. It is located in a suburb, surrounded by some areas of fields of groundnuts. This great and historic building is headquarters at present of the Valencian library, ancient and important specimens of the Valencian literature are preserved in it. It is a very important work of the Valencian Renaissance, visit inside the cloister, the Church, the crypt... an interesting visit not only by contemplating the building itself if or also by the story that there is. The facade of the Church is a marvel, a Renaissance located framed by two towers. Important cupola on the cruise. The interior is very nice. The monastery of San Miguel de los Reyes is now the result of a constructive work carried out along very different epochs or stages: a Muslim farmstead of the 11TH century, a monastery of the Cistercian order of the 14TH century, a Jeronimo monastery from the 16TH century and a 19TH-century prison. This building can visit daily, (see times, on its web site), except on Monday which is closed Saturdays and Sunday mornings with guided tour. We visited on Sunday with free admission and guided tour interesting, (there are guided to 12.00 hours and 1300 hours). that lasts approximately 50 minutes. Only one point negative, there were a lot of people to visit, and it seems that on Sunday mornings, normally many people, for the guided tour, which can be a little uncomfortable, meet think I even for the Guide. Comment that its interior presents temporary exhibitions and concerts of early music are held in the Church. There is elevator access to upper floor, for people with mobility problems, stop travelling with small children... You can reach this monastery in public transport such as the tram or bus. We arrived with our car, which we parked across the street. Then we saw next to building a parking lot of Earth, also to Park, with some 'gorrilla'. there. Free entrance. Not to be missed in the city of Valencia.

  • Beautiful building and three restoration, has been spectacular! Former monastery, today is the seat of the Valencian library, the Valencian Academy of the language, as well as many other cultural institutions. Don't miss the visit!
