  • I knew in the Museo de la Ciudad is based only the picture gallery of Valencia, but I wouldn't have imagined it to be so little at the height of the place and its history. Practically the only large canvases are 18th century religious only, a collection of ancient instruments (niche culture that unfortunately I couldn't appreciate) and, last but not least, on the top floor a-thankfully low-exposure to modern artists. I have rarely seen works so mediocre. Worth it though watch the building and its interior Rococo in pink and gold, climb the staircase between the friezes, stucco and chandeliers. Great on a rainy day and free with the Valencia Card. Find it was an undertaking ... even firefighters who were fines around there I knew of its existence.

  • The building is in a quaint plaza just behind the Cathedral. We visited the 2 floors with mostly paintings and sculptures, including a collection, plus weighting system exhibits. Not sure why it is ca...  more »
  • The City Museum is located in a beautiful stately and elegant building in the historic centre, next to the Basilica of the Virgin and the Almudín and in the same square as the archaeological crypt of San Vicente Mártir. He old palace of the counts of Berdebel, headquarters of this Museum, today, is one of them buildings more beautiful of the city. It has Baroque elements in the façade, courtyard and stairway, by the way, this is is a real gem. In the interior of the Museum of the city we can enjoy a wider pictorial exhibitions throughout the city, including the works of Valencian authors series, from the 15TH century to today. There is also a sculpture and arts such as jewellery, ivories, enamels or bronzes. Furthermore, other three collections are such as that of Adolfo de Azcárraga, based on paintings, sculptures and graphic works of Valencian artists of the 19TH and 20TH centuries, a collection of weights and measures, and the locksmith and smithery. The Palace, which is gorgeous, patio, staircase, stays, roofs, dome, (magnificent), that the museum itself has much more we liked. Hours are from Monday to Saturday from 09: 30 hours to 19.00 hours and on Sundays and public holidays from 09: 30 hours to 15.00 hours. The general admission price is 2.00 euros, a reduced of 1 euro, and other free. Sundays and bank holidays the entrance is free. The visit can be done very well, in an hour. There are toilets, public telephone and elevator cabin. It is adapted to be visited by people with disabilities. The Museum of the city, in Valencia, is one of them many museums of the city, but before visit this Museum, I recommend go before to others, much more interesting.
