  • Museo de la Ciudad, Valencia's City Museum, is decorated in the fine Palacio Marqués de Campo, a building dating from 1600-century, as in the 1800-century was rebuilt by Valencia's then-Mayor Don José Campo y Pèrez (1817 – 1889), who later was appointed to the marquis. The not quite small collection of paintings includes works from the 1400 's to the 20th century and most of the artists with local ties to Valencia. Among the fine collection of pictures from 1500-century there are pretty much only anonymous masters behind the images, and it is perhaps this part first part of the Museum, there is the most exciting, that was it for me. Among the 1600-century named artists are such names as Jeronimo Jacinto Espinosa, Esteban March and Vicente Castello. There are many images from the Baroque period, 1700-century which I probably put less on price, Behind the old Palacio has built a modern extension displays a large collection of weights, measuring tools, artistic processed locks and fittings, keys and more. And so when you to a collection of paintings, donated by Adolfo de Azcárraga (1911 – 1999), and here you have to excuse me. This collection of pictures, most works from the 20th century, is one of the strangest I have ever experienced at any museum. There were only a few images I break me, but there has to be something for everyone, and there are probably others who appreciate this particular part of the Museo de la Ciudad.

  • I knew in the Museo de la Ciudad is based only the picture gallery of Valencia, but I wouldn't have imagined it to be so little at the height of the place and its history. Practically the only large canvases are 18th century religious only, a collection of ancient instruments (niche culture that unfortunately I couldn't appreciate) and, last but not least, on the top floor a-thankfully low-exposure to modern artists. I have rarely seen works so mediocre. Worth it though watch the building and its interior Rococo in pink and gold, climb the staircase between the friezes, stucco and chandeliers. Great on a rainy day and free with the Valencia Card. Find it was an undertaking ... even firefighters who were fines around there I knew of its existence.

  • The building is in a quaint plaza just behind the Cathedral. We visited the 2 floors with mostly paintings and sculptures, including a collection, plus weighting system exhibits. Not sure why it is ca...  more »
