Micalet - Miguelete, Valencia

4.5
Earn striking views of Valencia by climbing 51 m (167 ft) up to the terrace of . The 14th-century bell tower of the Cathedral of Valencia features 207 winding stone stairs. You’ll get a front-row seat for the chiming of the bells if you're at the top on the hour. Make sure you wear comfortable, supportive shoes to make the trek. Until 1905, a designated ringer was tasked with sounding the bell, but electric-powered levers handle the job these days. • A visit with the Cathedral to see the Casco Antiguo, from above. Find out a bit on this tower prior to visiting or taking a guide: l(histoire dele de Miguelete est intéressante.)

  • The tower is located next to the Cathedral, really lovely and you can even go up to enjoy the view.

  • The entrance to the Miguelete is adjacent to the Cathedral. You get to the top by climbing about 200 steps of a spiral staircase. Once at the top you can see Valencia from above leaning over a network and to fall back you have to wait a specific time so as to avoid the meeting between who gets out and people who salt along the winding staircase. I thought it was better, but I think they make a great effort to see Valencia through a network is avoidable. The entrance to the Miguelete costs €2.

  • It may scare you the whole trip up the tower. At the top, the staircase is narrower but it's very easy to go up and down (even if going down seems difficult) - The view from upstairs is beautiful. It would be nicer to have a map to know what are you looking at around.
  • Spectacular view. Entrance is separate from cathedral and will cost you €2. Be prepare to actually climb 207 steps. Bell rings each hour so might be interesting to visit at that time. Might be pretty busy.
  • Do not make the mistake and pay the 7€ for the cathedral itself but rather go directly to the worship area, where the entry for the tower is located. Here you just have to pay 2€ for the accent to a stunning view over the old town. Watch out not to stand under the bell at the full hour; that thing isn't there just for decoration.
  • Torre del Miguelete is a tower with the best view in the city. Don't be afraid of 207 steps the view is worth it because the tower is just in the heart of the city. And you will get so close to the bell. Just don't stand under when is the full hour.
  • This is the best way to see the city from above! with only 2 Euros you can walk up to the cathedral bell tower. The climb is challenging but not prohibitive even for those who did not train. From the terrace at the top you can enjoy an extraordinary panorama that sweeps from the infinity of the most blue sea to the green of barren mountains behind Valencia, with a privileged view over the rooftops. From here you can easily distinguish all the sights! Attention to the tolling of bells that stuns! It takes at least 60/90 minutes to get on and enjoy the view! A must do! @gargio76

Where to stay in Valencia

The Valencia city center is hugged by a river bed-turned park that leads down to the City of Arts and Sciences and harbor area. Stay along the river to be no more than a pleasant stroll away from some of the main neighborhoods and attractions. The popular El Carmen neighborhood, one of the oldest in the city, is known for its bohemian atmosphere and historical architecture, making it a popular area for daytime tourism and lively nightlife. For a selection of newer hotels and well-known shops, you can opt to stay in the city's commercial district of Colon Street, only a short walk from the old center and well-connected by the metro. For a laid-back, sun-filled retreat, El Cabanyal is a quiet residential neighborhood near the city's main beach.
