Mercado Colon, Valencia
(4.2/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
Responding to the demand of the people to construct a public market in the area, Mercado Colon was opened by the city in 1916. A beautiful modernist building with stained-glass windows and triumphal arches, it was restored in 2003 and has been declared a national monument. Browse the market carts, where handmade goods and foods are sold, as well as the upscale boutique shops. When you need a break, visit one of the many bars or food stalls for coffee or a meal. Take advantage of the free wifi to review your itinerary or check your email, or just bring a book and soak up the atmosphere. On Sundays, enjoy an afternoon concert accompanied by a traditional drink or snack. • This large modernist style covered market w/ 3500 m2 was built between 1914-16 and is located in the upscale Eixample neighborhood just outside the historical center of Valencia. It used to be a tradi...  more »
  • We loved the façade and the interior is also worth seeing. It is not a 'market' as the Central or much less, just a couple of stalls on the ground floor; rather it is to drink in any of the many bars and cafes that inside.

  • Very beautiful hotel, nice cafes inside, but it doesn't compare to the Mercado Central. In my opinion, if you can do without it. ..

  • Mercat de Colón is an open air former train station currently housing a few bars and restaurants. It's a wonderful place to catch a drink or have a chic meal but many of the restaurants and bars have slightly limited menus for both food and drink
  • Originally a local market the building was restored and now houses trendy bars and cafes for the locals. Its a great place to sit and relax under sone fine arquitecture
  • Simply a small mall disguised as a tourist attraction. Fascinating architectural structure and the rich decorations in style adorning the cover. Completely forgetting what it offers, or trivial trinket stalls and eateries. Well worth a visit for discovering all the extraordinary details that enrich this ancient city market @gargio76
  • Looks like this place was newly renovate. I passed through this place in the morning....and there are lots of restaurants, cafes. Great architecture....a small fish market that does not smell badly. I am here for a few day so will go back in the evening and check out the vibe. Looks very promising!
  • We had diner at one of the many restaurants at Mercat de Colón. Just a great experience and fantastic atmosphere. A must see.
