  • Told us is the most ancient of Valencia. Small but lovely Church, belonging originally to the order of the Hospitallers.

  • The Iglesia de San Juan del Hospital is considered as the oldest church of Valencia. It is located in the historic old town and the admission is free. Open every day from 9:30 to 13:30. The Interior of the building impressed less by pomp and splendour, rather through the long history. One of the exhibited artifacts is the flag of St. George.

  • My paternal grandmother lived on the street ratchet Knights. Since childhood and through a rough wall, altísimo(o a mi así me lo parecía a los seis o siete años) to go or to come visit with my parents, wondered what it sensed it was a sober Church and that it just be columbraba her beauty. Looking through the eye of a huge lock was a placid courtyard cuasiconventual. I do not know the reasons for concealment, as well as the reasons for his late show the Valencian people and visitors. They say that its owners, Opus Dei, the Generalitat Valenciana requested economic aid for its restoration, telling them was given to change that will monopolize some few of its beauty. Their beauty, their mysticism, sober startles, the silence that stuns, the smell of incense, puts you almost defenseless before your own littleness. Of the most beautiful I've seen in my life. With the sentimental attachment in my case that the death of my father, his brother, a member of the Opus, commissioned a Novena of masses for the salvation of his soul. Then, upon the death of it, also attended his own Novena. Not will it miss it. If you believe that there is God, no doubt it is near this church

  • A very pleasant and peaceful place
  • Fantasic and awe inspiring. Great sense of peace.
  • Good
  • nothing much to look at...
  • Interesting place. The small chapel of Santa Bárbara is worth seeing. There is an empress buried there, if I remember correctly, it is above the altar. Also curious the statue of the Virgin of the students. The Church belongs to Opus Dei and there are connections with the order of Malta. It seems that the people of Valencia is knowing this church now... I guess that they have no idea who is the father...

Where to stay in Valencia

The Valencia city center is hugged by a river bed-turned park that leads down to the City of Arts and Sciences and harbor area. Stay along the river to be no more than a pleasant stroll away from some of the main neighborhoods and attractions. The popular El Carmen neighborhood, one of the oldest in the city, is known for its bohemian atmosphere and historical architecture, making it a popular area for daytime tourism and lively nightlife. For a selection of newer hotels and well-known shops, you can opt to stay in the city's commercial district of Colon Street, only a short walk from the old center and well-connected by the metro. For a laid-back, sun-filled retreat, El Cabanyal is a quiet residential neighborhood near the city's main beach.
