Fallas Museum, Valencia

4.4
#2 of 37 in Museums in Valencia
Experience a piece of Valencian culture at Fallas Museum, featuring life-size figurines made of cardboard, wood, and plaster. This art form originated with junk thrown out at the end of winter--the owners would dress it up and draw faces on it, and the humorous tradition caught on. The museum displays some of the best pieces, which date back as far as 1934. These days, the figures are brightly painted and resemble caricatures. They often portray political themes, or comment on trends, society, and sexuality. No guides or brochures are offered, but there is a video explaining the history of the figures. After having gone to the faults for several years (including failures 2017!) and have seen several of the "pardoned" over the years, I had really wanted to visit this museum. On a recent visit to Valencia, we take the opportunity to visit it. It was a very nice visit and loved how it has evolved the failures over the years, from materials used to changes in the themes of failures. It took many photos and I know that my friends are waiting for these photos to send them.

Very entertaining Museum where collects all winning Fallas celebration each year. Recommended to pass an hour or so while having fun. This museum is part of the free museums having the VLC card.

I've been going to Valencia for several years and I wanted to see something different, thanks to the lovevalencia website, I found this site which recommended. For as I want to go to the failures and not get it, this is a good appetizer. On Sunday it comes free. It is well structured and is very visual. You do a good tour of the history fallera.

Where to stay in Valencia

The Valencia city center is hugged by a river bed-turned park that leads down to the City of Arts and Sciences and harbor area. Stay along the river to be no more than a pleasant stroll away from some of the main neighborhoods and attractions. The popular El Carmen neighborhood, one of the oldest in the city, is known for its bohemian atmosphere and historical architecture, making it a popular area for daytime tourism and lively nightlife. For a selection of newer hotels and well-known shops, you can opt to stay in the city's commercial district of Colon Street, only a short walk from the old center and well-connected by the metro. For a laid-back, sun-filled retreat, El Cabanyal is a quiet residential neighborhood near the city's main beach.
