Many visitors come to the city expressly for Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, an eye-catching cultural and architectural site that’s home to a science museum, opera house, planetarium, IMAX movie theater, and open-air oceanographic park, the largest such aquarium in Europe. Built in the 1990s at the end of the former riverbed of the Turia River, the futuristic complex was designed by renowned architects Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela. The principal building, housing the science museum, is filled with hundreds of hands-on exhibits. Attendants can help you find your way around, or leave you alone to enjoy the displays at your own pace. Once you’ve had your fill of exhibits and jostling crowds, enjoy a stroll through the site’s gardens, featuring hundreds of plant species indigenous to this area. Visitors curious to learn the stories behind all the buildings in this giant complex are encouraged to book a guided walking tour. Put Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias and other Valencia attractions into our Valencia trip planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Space may be the final frontier but its made in València
  • If you’re visiting Valencia, you have to check out these buildings, and while you’re here, the only building you can tour is the science building. The other two are a convention hall and a large stage from what I understood. Regarding the science museum, the cost of the ticket is reasonably priced. The tour inside is fun. Even if your an adult. Certainly not the most elaborate science museum in the world, but it delivered a fun experience overall.
  • One of the most beautiful places of Valencia! I came here many times and I enjoy this place of art, light, space and peace. I feel each time deeply touched and brought into contact with the divine, with God. Each time I feel elated, inspired, my heart is expanding it makes me feel happy from a very deep place. I would say this place is transmitting eternal love joy and peace. Santiago Calatrava definitely transmitted Gods Love through his artwork and is touching millions of people in their heart. Really thank you to bring such beauty into this world. ☺️💖🌸
  • Absolutely stunning! This place is just phenomenal and inspiring. It never gets old, even after visiting several times since it was built in 1998. Definitely the best bang for the buck as you can spend hours just waking around the parameter for free, meanwhile racking up tons of photos. Not sure about the interior, but I'm sure it's amazing too.
  • The architecture is just gorgeous, and we had the best weather to go there. It was sunny all day and not too hot, so we spent some time outside just looking at those beautiful works of architecture and strolling around the lavish assortment of little ponds and waterworks. It really is a must see when visiting Valencia. We had a great time and I would recommend everyone to go and visit.
