City of the Arts and Sciences, Valencia

3.9
Many visitors come to the city expressly for City of the Arts and Sciences, an eye-catching cultural and architectural site that’s home to a science museum, opera house, planetarium, IMAX movie theater, and open-air oceanographic park, the largest such aquarium in Europe. Built in the 1990s at the end of the former riverbed of the Turia River, the futuristic complex was designed by renowned architects Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela. The principal building, housing the science museum, is filled with hundreds of hands-on exhibits. Attendants can help you find your way around, or leave you alone to enjoy the displays at your own pace. Once you’ve had your fill of exhibits and jostling crowds, enjoy a stroll through the site’s gardens, featuring hundreds of plant species indigenous to this area. Visitors curious to learn the stories behind all the buildings in this giant complex are encouraged to book a guided walking tour. • Impressive the structure mounted to the city of Arts and Sciences. The environment is beautiful, with a swimming pool with various outdoor activities. We went into the Museum of science and the content is amazing! There was a lady selling the famous horchata, a typical drink from Valencia. Loved it!

  • This wonderful architectural complex, work of the architect. Calatrava, begins to go up into the lower floors. Already only futuristic style, the building is worth the getting there. It is an exhibition about the history of humanity, the human inhabitants and animals, insects, etc. The functions of the vital organs, joints were exposed on other side (some of them to interact), the explanation of the 23 pairs of chromosomes in the call for them "Chromosome forest". There is a space Simulator, a Cabinet of zero gravity and a small sample of dinosaurs. The second floor is dedicated to 4 large scientific: Severo Ochoa, Ramon y Cajal, Jean Dausset and Santiago Grisolía... On the first floor is among other things the theater of electricity, the artistic representation of the DNA molecule and the Foucault pendulum. On the ground floor there are temporary exhibitions. Really missed in every sense. Go with the time and desire to learn.
