City of the Arts and Sciences, Valencia
(3.8/5 based on 9,000+ reviews on the web)
Many visitors come to the city expressly for City of the Arts and Sciences, an eye-catching cultural and architectural site that’s home to a science museum, opera house, planetarium, IMAX movie theater, and open-air oceanographic park, the largest such aquarium in Europe. Built in the 1990s at the end of the former riverbed of the Turia River, the futuristic complex was designed by renowned architects Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela. The principal building, housing the science museum, is filled with hundreds of hands-on exhibits. Attendants can help you find your way around, or leave you alone to enjoy the displays at your own pace. Once you’ve had your fill of exhibits and jostling crowds, enjoy a stroll through the site’s gardens, featuring hundreds of plant species indigenous to this area. Visitors curious to learn the stories behind all the buildings in this giant complex are encouraged to book a guided walking tour. • We were on holiday in the city and we could not see the city of Arts and science. It is a very nice place to visit and more going with children. Inside you can find several entertaining things. For children there is a place called the anthill, which make children's experiments, and like munos children. And for the older, there are things very interesting. We didn't have much time and we could not see all the facilities, but we think in return, as soon as we can

  • Being below street level, it seems to get into a scene from a science fiction movie: futuristic shapes and bodies of water that with the right light create a very impressive effect. Wonderful!
