City of the Arts and Sciences, Valencia

4.0
Many visitors come to the city expressly for City of the Arts and Sciences, an eye-catching cultural and architectural site that’s home to a science museum, opera house, planetarium, IMAX movie theater, and open-air oceanographic park, the largest such aquarium in Europe. Built in the 1990s at the end of the former riverbed of the Turia River, the futuristic complex was designed by renowned architects Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela. The principal building, housing the science museum, is filled with hundreds of hands-on exhibits. Attendants can help you find your way around, or leave you alone to enjoy the displays at your own pace. Once you’ve had your fill of exhibits and jostling crowds, enjoy a stroll through the site’s gardens, featuring hundreds of plant species indigenous to this area. Visitors curious to learn the stories behind all the buildings in this giant complex are encouraged to book a guided walking tour. • Beautiful, baffling modernity, the Council really see requires a few hours but it's worth it: =)

  • This is a beautiful work of Calatrava, is well worth the visit and the ritual photo day, evening, from within and from outside; but a couple of suggestions. The museo Principe Felipe beautiful outwardly; the Interior is a bit on the suggestions of others Trip, a bit on the advice of Valencian people, leave a bit to be desired, so I visited and I would not advise against it, however you decide according to conscience and knowledge. For l'hemisferic instead, is beautiful outwardly, but, having (out of curiosity) got the ticket to see a 3D movie, I confirm the other reviews read, not worth it. Rather spend it to watch the movie in 4 d in Oceanography. L'umbracle is nice for the walk. Then, promoted the architecture, the rest not.

  • None of the buildings actually visited but they are all equally beautiful and it's nice to go hiking through the ' park '
