Bioparc Valencia, Valencia

4.4
#1 of 200 in Outdoors in Valencian Country
For a change of pace from the cultural sites for which this city is renowned, visit Bioparc Valencia, an innovative and eco-friendly zoo aiming to immerse its visitors into the animals’ habitats. Skillfully combining education and conservation, this park avoids the traditional enclosures and cages common to most zoos. Instead, the park’s animal inhabitants are separated from visitors by a series of rivers, ponds, streams, and rock outcroppings. This creates an impression that wild animals roam freely around you as you explore various habitats. While on your safari-like experience, remember that touching or feeding the animals is strictly forbidden. The park also has a cafe serving light snacks and refreshing drinks. If already a Zoo then as shown here. It must be not hundreds of species. The Park is very clean and the enclosure are maintained, safely and naturally.

This is a brilliant zoo with a great selection of animals which you can get up real close to. Great value for money. You can't take any food in as your bags are searched at the entrance but the cafe i...  more »

  • This was an amazing experience. My family loves to visit the zoo and this was the best. Being able to view the animals so closely and from so many different vantage points greatly enhanced the experience. We are certainly going to visit again. Not one bad thing to report.
  • This is the best zoo I have seen so far - it creates a feeling that the animals are being kept in their natural habitat. Everything looks and feels authentic. There is much to see, but not too much to get bored; lemurs are a lot of fun. I would be happy to come here again.
  • It's a great day out. The whole place is well designed and the animals appear to be very well cared for. Plenty of refreshments, cafes and a restaurant. Well worth a visit.
  • Splendid day out with the kids. The exhibits are well kept and animals look very well looked after. The only downside was the food: terrible and expensive. I'd suggest you take your own snacks (not sure if it's allowed but you can certainly try). Tip: there are plenty of free parking spots in the surrounding streets.
  • Worth seeing animals that are not kept in cages like in most other zoo's. Animal show in the amphitheater great for kids.

Where to stay in Valencia

The Valencia city center is hugged by a river bed-turned park that leads down to the City of Arts and Sciences and harbor area. Stay along the river to be no more than a pleasant stroll away from some of the main neighborhoods and attractions. The popular El Carmen neighborhood, one of the oldest in the city, is known for its bohemian atmosphere and historical architecture, making it a popular area for daytime tourism and lively nightlife. For a selection of newer hotels and well-known shops, you can opt to stay in the city's commercial district of Colon Street, only a short walk from the old center and well-connected by the metro. For a laid-back, sun-filled retreat, El Cabanyal is a quiet residential neighborhood near the city's main beach.
