  • The comarca of Matarraña is a species of Aragonese Ampurdán or Aragon, full of corners medieval Tuscany. Plaza de Spain Valderrobres is preserved almost as in medieval times, with the beautiful and stately City Hall, the Lonja. It is also the place from which to undertake the ascent to the Castle by the steep medieval streets of the old town of Valderrobres. Access to the square is also singular if done from the medieval bridge spanning the Matarraña River, enjoying a classic profile of the comarcal capital that has remained unchanged for centuries. In the beautiful region of Matarraña perhaps only the Spain square of Calaceite and the largest square of La Fresneda can compete in charm with Valderrobres Plaza de Spain for anger of locals and visitors enjoy.

  • A time flowed through the bridge and cross the doors of the population we found with this magnificent square. The most representative building is the town hall but also highlights the Fonda de la Plaza from the 14th century, curiously before this function taxes could be collected and was House of notaries. It also highlights the building called Pereret House of five floors with coat of arms on the façade and a fantastic balcony of wavy brackets, just across the street is the Casa Pallarés which connects with the Pelleric stairs that give way to the interior of Valderrobres. Front by front of the City Hall we find modern Pension, began as a luxurious guesthouse and that was changing its functionality becoming central telephone. This plaza is testimony of its history and core life of essential visit. Leave to spend the afternoon sitting on one of the terraces that are there is a way to phenomenal relax and calm with a good beer.
