  • . Our Lady of Consolation is the Patron Saint of the town of Utrera, much beloved by the townspeople. This church - the Sanctuary - holds a statue that dates back to the 15th century. The church is highly decorated both inside and out, internally in the Mudejar style which may seem excessive to British eyes. However it is very interesting to see the various "ex-votos" or offerings to the saint so that she grants their prayer, that are displayed on the walls. The building itself has dates given of both the 16th and 17th centuries, as it started out as a simple Hermitage before being expanded into the church that we see today.

  • The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation is located on the Promenade of consolation of Utrera. With This prodigy, the story of consolation lives a turning point. The fame of the miraculous Virgin begins to spread throughout Andalusia, to the point that the voyages of the ships that sailed to the merits, passed through this sanctuary to ask for the protection of his mantle or to thank him for the good voyage. Today There are testimonies of those people like Nao de Oro, an exvotee delivered by Rodrigo de Salinas in 1579, being the most valuable of the boats that owns the Virgin in his trousseau. In the Old convent of the Minios, to the right of the Sanctuary, the proportions of the cloister show us the flow of alms and sponsorships that the order received thanks to consolation. This whole built for centuries, was the goal of ancient pilgrimages that around the festivity of the Virgin, gathered thousands of people forcing to claim the presence of many deputies of Seville to control the tumultuous order of the pilgrimage De Utrera. The interior dimensions of the church respond to its splendorous past as the Great Marian Center from the 16TH century to the present day, for even today, after the prohibition of the pilgrimage by King Charles III in 1771, people continue to arrive from all over at dawn on 8 September. The religious building surprises by its neoislámica decoration that, at the end of the 19TH century, Enrique de la Cuadra defrayed. Nevertheless, the church presents original elements of great interest such as coffered ceilings, structured in five cloths and seven pineapples of Muqarbas, work of Gregorio Tirado made in 1578, and the stony cover built in 1635 by Alonso Álvarez de Albarrán for the order of The minimums, custodians of the temple. It Also still has large altarpieces, like the main Altar, where Ntra is venerated. Lady Of consolation and in whose upper part is represented to San Francisco de Paula giving up the bishopric in favor of continuing with its hermit life. In the sacristy and Antesacristy are exhibited numerous ex-Voto dedicated to the Virgin, testimony of miracles, thanks and intercessions that since ancient have been embodied in these squares of popular flavor. Consolation symbolizes the popular devotion of Utrera, to the point that outstanding Utreranos, as the brothers Alvarez Quintero in 1934 dedicated a prayer to "the boat in Hand", being popularized by the voice and guitar of Enrique Montoya.
