  • Within walking distance of the town of Ubrique (Cadiz), at the road linking it with Benaocaz, an important archaeological site, Roman, is perhaps a strategic Roman city, called OCURI. Its location at the Salto de la Mora, given his height, allows to obtain beautiful and unparalleled views, regardless of the valuable material excavated since its discovery in the second half of the 18TH century by the villager D. José Vegazo. A funerary monument stands out and, among others, three cisterns or tanks, remains of which were remarkable baths, a building annexed with the likely purpose of watering livestock, remains of Minerva fountain and House that built the Mr. Vegazo and a millenary Wild olive, classified in the register of trees unique of the Junta de Andalucía. Access to the site, with the obligation of guided, passes through a road that divides the necropolis of a city who is credited to have been populated by more than two thousand people. Altitude levels fall between 400 and 600 meters, enjoying stretches of major and minor inclination, which, altogether, make up a pleasant walk. The route is assisted by technical staff, who provided a detailed explanation of the elements displayed on the site, with solvency and friendliness. Finally, indicate that in a few years, unpredictable know when, can become a reference Roman site, with only a few years of existence and be mostly undiscovered. It is, therefore, a preferred place, where the Romans can learn something from the way of life of our ancestors.
