Categories: Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.9/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web
The only example of a fortified medieval town still standing on the Catalan coast, Vila Vella (Old Town) is full of narrow, cobbled streets. Inside its stone walls, discover a medieval hospital, remnants of a Romanesque church, a Gothic church, and the municipal museum. Walk up to its highest point, where the lighthouse stands, and appreciate the broad views of the town and coast. A steep climb up is required to reach the site on foot, or you can take the small tourist train up to the top. Enjoy Catalan food in one of the many cafes and restaurants.
