Plaza de Zocodover, Toledo

(3/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Plaza de Zocodover has been the heart of Toledo since medieval times. Throughout its long history, it's served as an open-air market, bull running arena, and center of the Spanish Inquisition. Its name comes from the Arabic “Souk al-Dawab,” or market of the beasts of burden, a holdover from its time as a livestock market for the Moors. Today, you'll find outdoor cafes, tourist information, bus and taxi stands, a play area, and many narrow streets branching off into the city. It's a good place to have a drink and watch the hustle and bustle of daily life in Toledo. The tourist train that leaves from the plaza offers views of the ancient city unavailable by car or public transport. • The square is very pretty and there's the little train that makes a very nice tour, I recommend. sit on the right side of the train to be the best angle for photos

  • Old square with terraces and shops. Beautiful by look at River. Not something to long.

  • It is the square from which depart all routes into different areas to visit. The beginning of the main street where you can find shops of all kinds. And where they exit the train and the Bus.
