  • This spectacular synagogue built in the Kingdom of Castile in the 14TH century, when it was forbidden to lift them. Peter I made an exception as a thank you to the support of the Jews of Toledo. Its original name was synagogue of Samuel ha-Levi, his patron. Its construction involved Muslim architects, this building is a compendium of the relationship between the three cultures coexisting in Toledo, as we can be seen in the superb plasterwork the prayer hall, with texts in Arabic, Hebrew and heraldic motifs of the Crown of Castile. Adjacent rooms host the National Museum of art Hispano and Sephardic where we can see several things that give us information of the Jewish culture of Toledo. We enjoyed a lot with covered Wonderland and explanations of our guide.

  • very important to visit, see, feel the history. art... the time of gold of the Jews is very well marked... without history we learned nothing..

  • We were lucky to enjoy the explanations of Valentin, a volunteer in the Museum does not charge any fees for this reason. Are these explanations that lay in value all the architectural elements of the prayers of the synagogue room answering questions as for there is a recorded lion when Jews could not represent images? That is called the synagogue of the transit?

  • Well decorated interiors with quite a few artefacts although sadly lacking in English language explanations within the display cabinets. There's a small shop selling gifts as you exit. Free entrance on a Sunday :)
  • A beautiful building with a sad history. Well preserved and nice small museum. Would have been better if the descriptions were available in English too but we are in Spain.
  • Impressive prayer hall marking the Jewish heritage in Toledo in Spain. There is an English audioguide accessible by your smartphone. However, there are no English notes in the museum.
  • A must see for any Jew or anyone in a mixed faith marriage. Overall very nice, wish the literature for non-Spanish speaking tourist was in more visibility places.
