Castillo de San Servando, Toledo

(3.9/5 based on 40+ reviews on the web)
Medieval times come alive at Castillo de San Servando, a regional landmark that figured prominently in El Greco's landscape painting "View of Toledo." Originally a Benedictine monastery, the structure became property of the Knights Templar in the 12th century. Templars turned the entire complex into a fortress meant to protect the area against possible Muslim attack, but the structure lost importance during the 14th century. Allegedly haunted by a mischievous knight, the castle remained neglected for several hundred years. Today, the renovated fortress houses a youth hostel, which makes a good base for day trips around the area. • This castle, which is on a promontory opposite the city of Toledo, opposite the Alcázar is a majestic building but not visited since it is privately owned and but loose good money not can go it. Also next to the hostel which has very good paint but I do not know it. Although it is not more to see on the outside is worth climbing and admire it

  • Stone medieval castle with towers. The structure looks good, because in the 20th century was its reconstruction, and prior to that no times rebuilt. It is nice to stroll through the shady streets.

  • We are pilgrims. And this all appears way guides El Levante/Suereste. The receptionist treated us poorly. As if we make a favor by staying us. That he did not attend to the pilgrims, there you take alberguista card, that there is no different treatment, that this is a business ....
