Timanfaya National Park, Tinajo

4.5
Explore the volcanic landscapes of Timanfaya National Park, a mountainous area that has been frozen in time since the greatest recorded eruptions took place nearly 300 years ago. This national park forms the core area of a protected biosphere reserve. Access to the park is strictly regulated to guard its delicate wildlife, with only a few footpaths and a short rustic route you can explore by camel. The admission fee includes a bus tour around the interior of the park, with a narrated history of the area in several languages. Located just outside the northern limits of the park is an informative visitor center, with permanent displays and audio-visual presentations explaining the origins of the island and the volcanic activity that formed the park’s unusual scenery. • Worth every morning at 10: 00 in the first buses from the restaurant in the party to launch national park. The bus tour takes about half an hour and it is multilingual tells about the history of Lanzarote. The landscape is unique and absolutely worth seeing. The restaurant itself show staff what heat into the ground and igniting bushes and trigger steam fountains. Admission for 2 adults and 2 children (5 & 7) with ca 25 euro is perfectly ok.

  • We went as part of an organised trip and was amazed it is such a beautiful area. If you really look then you can see loads of tiny plants trying to grow amongst the lava. We learnt loads from our guid...  more »
  • In the middle of the Interior, the Timanfaya National Park shows the origin of Lanzarote. Moon-like lava rock is the result of previous volcanic eruptions, which characterise the whole of Lanzarote - no matter where it is also now!

  • Superb tour and wonderful volcanicity. The demos are fantastic but the restaurant is expensive - as I would expect. Toilets are free and always clean. Children love the trip but do get restless as they are not allowed out the bus anywhere except the Centre.
  • Absolutely out of this world. stunning scenery. amazing colours. plenty of coaches waiting to take you on the tour of the volcanic landscape. see the fire and steam coming from the vents. nice restaurant and finish with a camel ride just down the road. photo opportunity of a lifetime.
  • Amazing experience - the whole family really enjoyed our visit there. Too many parts to detail and I don't want to ruin the surprise!! Just make sure you go and enjoy!
  • You know what, it's alright. It's busy even in February but the car park staff are efficient and get you aboard a bus for the tour round the volcano. Audio description in Spanish, German and English. A couple of guys give some quick demonstrations of the heat and I thought it was reasonably priced for what you get. Plenty of photo opportunities and food and drink available, even chicken cooked over the volcano heat.
  • Nice restaurant at top of hill with best views and best food cooked on heatwave coming from deep of volcano. Bus ride in to and around residues of lava was good as well. Bus ride €10 per person. Food nice and expensive.
