Las Montanas de Anaga, Tenerife

4.9
#6 of 36 in Nature in Tenerife
With a rugged coastline and jagged peaks, Las Montanas de Anaga is a place of legend, beauty, and history. At 1,024 m (3,600 ft), this mountain range is the highest point in both the Canary Islands and Spain itself. Explore the mountains’ many protected areas and marked trails, spread out through a number of national parks, and marvel at its massive geological formations, formed in a giant volcanic eruption over 7 million years ago. Discover viewing areas high above the Atlantic Ocean, and keep your eyes open for the witches that populate the area, according to Tenerife mythology. Grab a bite at a cafe or restaurant in one of the villages, or bring snacks along for a picnic on the way. Be aware that many of the inner parts of the mountain range are inaccessible by car, and wear proper footwear, as some of the routes are very rugged. For this same reason, hiking in the area is not recommended for those with mobility problems. To find out how to plan a trip to Taganana, use our trip itinerary maker.

  • Is would be almost raw in Jurassic park! We did a walk of two hours in the forest among very lush vegetation, mountain view is sublime but must equip hot air is very humid, there is a lot of wind and clouds so that barely 20 minutes of the beach large ground EIL 24 degrees. Change of scenery!

  • Place, mandatory to visit ... We went by car (parking is available near the forest, and a small coffee shop, just go to the building next to cafes and draw a card (free) also there will tell you about the available routes) which landscapes open up the road, steep serpentines, up then down, beautiful cliffs with spectacular views, and of course myself forest-complete delight! words can not describe, you see all this beauty yourself! Read reviews here) about what to take with them warm clothes are not worth it, disagree, who as luck, in the Woods pretty damp and cool, everything depends on the weather, of course load yourself cotton pants and jacket is not worth it, but warm jacket to take all the same need, plus of course who exactly is going to hike through Anagu and not just walk in the Woods, be sure to panamku on the head, water and light snack with you, well, there's like at the end of walking you will descend to the ocean, and thus will not prevent shoulder swimsuit;) After Anagi we passed through the mountains to the village of Taganana like there too super types and the beach is quiet there) the next our arrival still going to plan a hike through Anagu.)
