  • On my tour around the island, we went through the ancient capital of the island and went to visit this magnificent Castle and Museum of piracy, it hurts to close so early so we did not have time to visit in depth and tranquility. In a privileged place as often happens in these cases and has views over the spectacular and very nice island, also you can see a sunset with gorgeous colours.

  • Beautiful castle on the edge of Teguise. My 2 young kids loves it. Lots of info and pieces on piracy on the island and the views Amazing!!  more »
  • I very pleasantly surprised. The very interesting exhibition of the pirates, as well as the interior of the Castle. The views from the top, fantastic.

  • Great little castle for kids to visit. We got there at 3:30 in the afternoon, not knowing that it closes at 4. However it is not a big place, so had enough time to look around, but could have stayed longer.
  • The construction of this fort started in the 15th century to help withstand pirate attacks. Although there are not many historical artifacts inside the fort, the construction, the beautiful 360 degree views make it a worthwhile visit. It's an inexpensive and pleasurable place to visit. An ideal way to spend a few hours, learning about the history of the island.
  • Really interesting, lot more than I expected. Details a lot of the history of the castle and the island. Road to access is a bit precarious though and there isn't a lot of parking.
  • Easy to see up on the hill, but the entrance isn't signed and you have to be alert to spot it when leaving Teguise. The drive up the hill is an adventure, and at the top on my scooter I was struggling not to get blown off. Parking is for about 20 cars. Not recommended for the faint of heart. The stairs start near a long drop and the narrow draw bridge has no proper railings. Entry to the castle and pirate exhibition is €3. The exhibition is quite extensive and takes you round a lot of rooms in the castle. It was very interesting to get a Spanish perspective on piracy and how many Brits appear on the baddy list including Nelson. He incidentally lost his arm while attacking Tenerife. Lanzarote had a big pirate problem hence this castle was built to be a lookout post and last refuge. Great views from the top too. Worth the effort to see it.
  • Ure not let to go to the top unless u pay! The hike around the crater though gives the same views and even better so do that instead!
