Circ Roma, Tarragona

World heritage site · Ruin · Historic Site
Circ Roma once offered the most popular mass spectacle of its time: chariot races. Modern Tarragona was built on top of many such ruins. In the first century, this one formed part of a monumental complex. It measures 325 x 115 m (1060 x 380 ft), much of which remains well preserved. Climb up the tower for a great view of the city, and check out the museum and underground tunnels. • We went in, paid the very reasonable entrance fee and were happy with what was on offer. Then we found the tunnels and all of the hidden offerings - amazing!. What a hidden gem .  more »

  • Very interesting and well taken care of. There was an amazing animated video showing the original site and nowadays, a great way of having a mental idea of history!
  • Grand to be able to see much of the Roman ruins. I'd recommend downloading the 3D app 'imageen' to phone or tablet before you go
  • An amazing visit - would highly recommended. There is a portion that is also free to visit which I think is amazing!
  • The remaining ruins of a huuge Roman circus. Gives a nice intuition into Roman times. Worth spending half a day here
  • Not a ton to see at this site alone. Add to it the Roman amphitheatre nearby and the Roman aqueduct and it is worth a visit.
