  • The current building of the House Canals, seems to be built at the end of the 18th century. In earlier centuries there were other buildings that were destroyed with the passing of the years and the wars. It is a building constructed between granada and the wall of the Passeig de Sant Antoni, next to the door of Sant Antoni. It is a three storey building, main entrance, entrance for carriages, patio and staircase, which leads to the noble floor and the ground floor for the service. They have a nice terrace overlooking the city, the beach and the port. The Canals family was the owner of the farm, where the King Carlos IV stayed during his visit to Tarragona to inaugurate the port of Tarragona in 1802. Inside, especially the first floor, has a beautifully decorated in classic type on walls and ceiling. Mirrors, Elizabethan chairs, beautiful lamps, etc., come from the first half of the 19th century. There is a chapel, the period furniture, living room, dining room and bedrooms, along with the terrace on the first floor. The second floor is enabled for exhibitions. You have to book group to make the visit.

  • Went and the main house has been closed for a few months now. There is a quite nice photo exhibition that is open but obviously disappointing to not see the main house. There is no specific timetable ...  more »
  • One of the few manor houses preserved in Tarragona, the other would be the Casa Castellarnau House, for many years it was not visiting it. It could do in mayo coinciding with the days of doors open of the museums. In the 23rd century and integrated in the wall Tarragona Roman creates a stupor, to by budget, the City Council of Tarragona decided some time ago close it to the public and only open it on arranged visits for + 20 people. In any city with this heritage, the decision would have been the opposite, advertise it and bring it closer to the inhabitants of Tarragona and tourism in general.
