  • Curious visit to the Roman quarry where stones used in Tarragona for different constructions come. It is worth being an hour touring the various viewpoints. The lower part of the quarry is closed for safety.

  • If you've never seen a Roman quarry, el Médol is perfect. First there is that access to the interpretation centre located in the service area of el Médol. There you'll get an idea of what you will find, explanations of q used extracted stone, etc. A time you're Quarry Road and you reach the shutter, you spend rolls, the first thing you see is a hole with vegetation that surrounds it. They are prepared several viewpoints, I advise the q is right that allows observing the set in cas entirely. In this place you can already see the needle that measures the excavated depth. The Romans decided to leave this pillar thinking of future generations. Walls can still be seen cuts to extract new blocks, you have to imagine working with peaks, saws and wet logs to release these blocks of the rock wall.

  • Interesting as a stop from the area of the highway. Or as the start of a tour of the area. It is a quarry where the Romans drew calcareous stones to the most important monuments of Tarragona. From there, you can make very nice routes. I recommend to go up to the mountain of Sant simplicity. It is the mountain back where there is a flag on top.
