Anfiteatro de Tarragona, Tarragona
Categories: Ruins, Tourist Spots
The site of gladiator battles, wild animal hunts, and executions, Anfiteatro de Tarragona gives you a feel for the history of the Roman empire in Catalonia as of the second century CE. Once able to accommodate up to 15,000 spectators, this amphitheater was later home to a church and a prison. Consider the ticket allowing entrance to five different sites, including this one. If time is short, you can walk the perimeter for free. To visit Anfiteatro de Tarragona and other attractions in Tarragona, use our Tarragona tour planner.

Lovely grounds and looked after really well .loads of information around the site in Spanish and English well worth a visit .
Stunning piece of art! Aside from a civil war, Spain has not been a war zone (unlike other European countries). As a result, Spain houses some of the best, well preserved ancient architecture.
Beautiful place, worth the visit. Not much left of the original amphitheater but it's so inexpensive you can't complain. Beautiful views.
Very cool Roman place and quite cheap to visit , just a few euros each. I definitely recommend going inside to see all of it
This will force you to stop and think of the Romans in Spain. You will have no choice but to get a book or listen to a podcast and learn about how modern Spain came to exist...
