  • This castle is really worth exploring. The map and signs clearly explain all the different layers of construction. The exhibition has well-chosen artifacts that are clearly explained. Since most of us...  more »
  • Impressive medieval fortress with great views of Tarifa and the Strait of Gibraltar. Morocco on the other side of the Strait up close.

  • We did visit for free, to learn about the castle of Guzmán. It was a bittersweet experience because the castle is impressive despite many restorations, and has exhibitors inside to teach history, yet need more information for visitors (explanatory panels, signage). Nevertheless, it is worth by the breathtaking views of Tarifa and Africa and their State of conservation.

  • An impressive structure with a more impressive history. The modern museum is integrated into the existing structure of the castle seamlessly and the exhibits explain the history well. Also, translations are available in English, so don't worry if your Spanish isn't up to par. The views from the walls are stunning on a good day.
  • There are a number of interesting buildings in Tarifa but arguably the most important is Castillo de Guzman. This 10th-century medieval fortress is known as the Castle of Guzmán the Good. It was named after Alfonso Pérez Guzmán who in no way would have won the 'Father of the Year' award - apparently, he threw down his dagger to besieging Moorish forces for them to execute his son who had been held hostage. He did this rather than surrender the city to the marauding Arabs.
  • Great views from the castle and not expensive, well worth a visit.
  • It is off the beaten path of the city off the beaten path of castles. Facade stood out but views from the roof looks before Africa is spectacular! I cannot see the other guests too, best cozy. Also the whole city surrounded by walls of Islamic while many fantasies and twilight are possible. Don't go to the main (I in Maine,...), is going to go to Morocco do. By the way, right next to the Parador.

  • Interesting visit, even more if you get to reach the guided tour, which is at 12.00. And stunning views from the towers, despite the air. Highly recommended.
