Very nice visit to this beautiful defensive Castle suffered not only the vicissitudes of time, if not of the history which holds. Very nice guide that made us a visit from the outside very detailed and Nice, with fantastic explanations. To see, without a doubt.

travel in Spain is always much thinking. Castles, fortresses, walls, cisterns, aquaducts are scattered everywhere, even where they have been built more or less beautiful cities (often) or tourist places now as Tarifa. The beautiful castillo was closed when we reached, but given its strategic location made us once again rethink the turbulent history of Spain, made of conquests and reconquests. Here, the fact of seeing Africa so close, says many pieces of history uncovered in other parts of the country

The castle of Guzman el Bueno is a truly exceptional piece of history. By visiting this site, especially the towers offer views of the Harbour and the sea of the Strait, you can imagine what they saw the occupants. The Castle retains the original form, some of the rooms and some objects unfortunately not many but I think we can visit a place so ancient is priceless. A must see if you visit Tarifa.

  • An impressive structure with a more impressive history. The modern museum is integrated into the existing structure of the castle seamlessly and the exhibits explain the history well. Also, translations are available in English, so don't worry if your Spanish isn't up to par. The views from the walls are stunning on a good day.
  • This was a must see in tarifa great history and the museum was surprisingly modern.
  • There are a number of interesting buildings in Tarifa but arguably the most important is Castillo de Guzman. This 10th-century medieval fortress is known as the Castle of Guzmán the Good. It was named after Alfonso Pérez Guzmán who in no way would have won the 'Father of the Year' award - apparently, he threw down his dagger to besieging Moorish forces for them to execute his son who had been held hostage. He did this rather than surrender the city to the marauding Arabs.
  • Full of history
  • Great views from the castle and not expensive, well worth a visit.
