#2 of 34 in Sightseeing in Province of Soria
Architectural Building Tourist Spot
Constructed between the 12th and 13th centuries, and once the headquarters of the Knights of St. John, Monasterio de San Juan de Duero (Arcos de San Juan de Duero) is an incredible example of Romanesque religious architecture. Wander the courtyards and hallways, part of a working monastery until the 18th century, and imagine the lives of the monks and knights who called them home. Examine the rows of intricately carved archways lining the cloisters, each from a slightly different time period, or look up at the vaulted interior of the church chapel. Parking is available near the site, although the monastery is also a short walk from the town of Soria. • Another jewel in Soria unheralded. With the immunity of Fund, a magnificent cloister. Highly recommended and indispensable.

  • A very nice and caring faculty. Precious capitals, and a simple Church but very beautiful detail. And the Bank of the Douro River from the ideal outside to take a stroll through nature.
